Animal That Doesn't Exist is the first monograph of Daniel Steegmann Mangrané's work.

The conceptual backbone of the book is a list of 25 keywords, which are explored by Jimena Canales, Pedro Cesarino, Benjamin Meyer-Krahmer, Filipa Ramos, Ana Teixeira Pinto, and Elfi Turpin. The book also contains a section with reprints by Samuel Beckett, Georges Didi-Huberman, and Carlos Drummond de Andrade.

For the online PDF, Sarah Demeuse and Manuela Moscoso wrote a new entry about Surface Density. The text was performed at the book launch in December 2015 at McNally Jackson, New York.
